Dr. Mario World is for the OGs
The homies at Nintendo and the Pokemon Company streamed their Pokemon Direct earlier today and Illest Tech has got y’all covered with the Illest (what we loved) and the Whackest (what we didn’t love) parts of the stream!
We know little about the games right now as Game Freak has stated that the game is still in development. Here’s what we do know:
The Game takes place in the Galar region and it looks like The Pokemon Company drew inspiration from the UK (c’mon that Clock in the animation was def Big Ben). Galar makes the second European inspired region along with Gen 6’s Kalos region (based on France).
In the stream we’re also introduced to the 3 new starter Pokemon of Generation 8!
A mischievous Chimp Pokémon that is full of boundless curiosity.
A Rabbit Pokémon that is always running about, bursting with energy.
A somewhat timid Water Lizard Pokémon that shoots out attacks as it hides itself in the water.
THE #ILLEST OF THE STREAM
The Fire Starter, Scorbunny. Why? Yo did you see his feet burn the grass in the opening sequence? That bunny is LIT, fam. He’s going to be the favorite starter this Gen for sure. How do I know? Gen 7’s favorite was Rowlet (Grass), Gen 6’s favorite was Froakie (Water). Naturally, it’s the Fire starter’s turn. I’m guessing he’s gonna be a physical sweeper (ATK/SPD) but we’ll see.
THE #WHACKEST OF THE STREAM
Honestly, Pokemon doesn’t disappoint but we’re gonna say the whackest part of the stream is the lack of a Gen 4 remake. Everyone’s been waiting on it but I’m guessing it’ll come out next year.
WHICH GEN 8 POKEMON WILL YOU START WITH?
Real talk, here at Illest Tech, we feel that Nintendo never disappoints (except for Super Smash Bros Brawl. Fight me, Sakurai.) But Pokemon has never disappointed. Today’s Pokemon Direct is no exception to that rule. Stay tuned and subscribe to Illest tech for the newest updates on Pokemon Sword and Shield.
